Bacong Elementary School is one of the 55 barangays of Ligao. It is situated along the Ligao to Pioduran road. It is 22 kilometers from the Poblacion. The school is bounded on the north of barangay Malama, on the south of barangay Palapas and on west of barangay Abella. It has a total long areas of 5,960 hectares. It is characterized as rugged and hilly. Farming and coconut products are the chief sources of livelihood by most of the residents. They plant variety of vegetables. They sold thier products in poblacion. Bacong Elementary School has a site which has an area of 10,000 sq. meters which has donated by Doña Agustina R. Ribaya to the municipal Government of Ligao in 1949 during the incumbency of Mayor Jose G. Del Rosario by virtue of Resoluton No. 69 series 1949. In 1961, under the incumbency of then Tenyente Del Barrio Francisco Basag, Bacong Elementary School was opened. Miss Quintano and Mr. Domingo Juarez were assigned as first teachers of the place. Every year, halfater, another teacher was assigned until it became a complete Elementary School. Thus, marked the first graduation in March 1968. As of this time, the school has eight buildings of which twelve classrooms are utilized as intructional rooms. One is computer room. Three rokms needed major repair to be demolished because of the damaged cause by Thphoon Glenda and another one is the Principal's officce. |
